Last summer we saw incredibly high numbers. 2020 people were isolated and stayed home, but that didn’t stop patrons from coming into the Library. We were incredibly busy.
Today, I was reflecting on these three pictures and am so thankful that this year August seems to be rolling along so much more smoothly.
Last year, our carpet was held together with duct tape. Sometimes, I felt that we as a team were held together with tape as well, still learning the ropes of how to be a public library.
I meant to write a little blog in July to give you the three year run down, but as usual, I got too busy. Here it is August, and our library is three years and one month old. We have survived! We survived 2020, and so far we are surviving 2021.
Our staff had Covid in late 2020. We closed for a month, closing completely for two weeks and then we came back for the remaining two weeks part time and then only to get new carpeting installed. The City of Donnelly Local Option Tax money paid for our new carpet. It was very needed. Duct tape, stains, humps, big rolls and more decorated the old carpet. The new carpet is so beautiful, you must come in and see it. These pictures remind me though of how thankful I am for everything at our library. We may not have our big beautiful expansion yet, but we have little improvements. Our community strives to make a better library. Thank you to each and every business in Donnelly that contributes to the local option tax which contributes to making us a better library. We do not have our expansion yet, but we don’t have carpet held together with duct tape anymore! This little hump is one we have gotten over. 🙂
