Book Review from Sarah Roach
The Library eagerly looks for books by local authors and the most recent acquisitions are Wrinkly Bits Cruise Time and Wrinkly Bits Out of Time by Boise author Gail Cushman. Both books are “geared toward people of a certain age” and involve three couples, all over sixty, who rediscover their gusto for life, on their way to sites unseen on the high seas. Audrey and Griff Lyons are retired Idaho farmers who have been married for almost fifty years and have settled into the humdrum life that fifty years of marriage entails. All that changes when Griff decides to take Audrey on a cruise during which Audrey spies Logan, a retired podiatrist.
Phyllis and Gus, friends of the Lyons, are retired teachers and are the adventurous sorts. Phyllis looks for new and interesting things to explore while her husband seeks relaxation, beer, and babes, but with his excess girth, finding babes is a bit difficult until he meets Dr. Lewis who has a thing for meaty men.
Steve and his trophy wife Carlee have been married for twenty years. He is a retired dentist and she is clearly a bored wife and less appealing with her acquired wrinkles and crinkles. Alcohol seems to be her go to for assurance that she still has it.
An enjoyable read for those who aaidentify with aging and all the fun that comes with it.
