The hustle and bustle of the holidays has arrived. Miss Sherry has one tip: SLOW DOWN! Recently, I was talking to a parent and we were talking about how their child was getting to old for Santa. SLOW DOWN! Take it all in this holiday. Read to your child, watch the parade, eat that extra piece of pie, watch football with your husband, and YES take your child to visit Santa.
Melissa Sweet wrote a book Balloons Over Broadway and I love reading it each year. It is the story of Tony Sarg, the puppeteer for Macy’s. When I was a child we did not have near the media options we do today and so we were able to get PBS, NBC, CBS and at times ABC. On Thanksgiving morning we loved tuning in and watching the parade. Let your children enjoy it. Talk about how it started and let them even create their own puppet parade. If you don’t have time to run to the library and check out this great book here is a wonderful link from Reading Is FUNdemental.

On Friday and Saturday get out of the house and head to McCall Festival of Trees.
Enjoy this time and tell yourself to remember to SLOW DOWN.
