Director’s Report November 2020
Outreach and Partnerships / Programs
NEA Big Read:
We are working with McCall Public Library and Cascade Public Library to do a one valley, one book. Cascade Library is the lead. We were supposed to be neck deep in this by now, but COVID. We are looking at a March date.
Katy is going to begin Toddler Time again. Cascade and McCall have begun in person again. We will begin very slowly.
Halloween was our busiest ever. We gave out 417 books and saw 839 people. We won 2nd place for our trunk. (The check was written to Sherry Scheline, but will be deposited into the Library’s general funds.) .
Our 4-H Americorp was finally hired. We have her through Sept 2021. Her name is Annabelle. She will be on the time card system but will be paid through Americorp. She is 20 hours a week. The work must benefit children 5-18.
Current Programs for November:
Valley County Read
Mars Base Camp
Grants and Money:
We applied to Rotary denied they are serving only covid needs and gave the entire amount to MOSS.
Kindergarten Readiness Grant: we got denied. McCall got it along with some other additional monies.
All other grants that we had out have been denied. Most stated they were going for covid reasons.
Perc Shelton we should have the money this week. 4 new office chairs and an outdoor sink. I am looking to purchase a really durable outdoor sink that is mobile. Not just a cheap camping sink. I have found them ranging anywhere from $250 to $15,000. I would like one with an easy to remove tank to bring in at night. An outdoor sink will make me feel better about further outdoor activities. (Including Farmers Market in the Summer) Deep enough to wash hands and dishes for painting, etc… ) I have purchased one chair and it has been great. Patrons seem to really like it.
We did get the fancy new WiFi. We need to decide if it is ok to sell the old router. $200 I think is a fair price. New WiFi is filtered. The also send a monthly report of usage and so we do not have to keep track. We have done the walking bath and it is about 300 yards and about 500 on the east side of the building.
There is a first come first serve VR grant coming up in December that I would like to apply for. It is very specific and is for purchasing VR equipment.
Year End Report:
I would like to put together a few things to tell our story. I am not sure what this will look like just yet, but I am open to ideas. The stats in cool graphs, etc…
WEEDING: I am almost done weeding the entire Library. I will likely finish late this week.
I switched the desk situation around and it is much more user friendly for patrons.
