October Newsletter

October Newsletter

Fall is here.  The Tamaracks are beginning to change and the temperature is dropping.  The cold mountain evenings remind us that winter is around the corner.  Fall reminds us that it is a good time to cuddle up with a book.  (Check out our Fall Reads section on our blog.) http://www.donnellylibrary.org
As the temperature drops things are getting heated up at the library.  October is a busy month.

Donnelly Reading Club
This fall we have continued to try and fill a gap in our community for after-school programing.  Currently on Tuesdays we are offering Tutoring Tuesdays.  The kids come and read a short story and then work on homework.
Thursdays we are doing Girls Who Code for 3-5th graders and for the month of October we will be partnering with Positive Action to have the k-2nd graders have an option.
Fridays is Coding Club, a club for all elementary age children teaching the basics of coding.  This class runs through November and is full at present and can’t fit anymore children.  We encourage you to sign up for Tuesday and Thursday.

Toddler Time

Every Friday at 10:00 A.M. Before the Library opens a group of moms and their little ones come for an hour and hang out.  Miss Sherry reads a story and the kids explore and enjoy the library.
We invite you to attend.  Come join us every Friday at 10.

Donnelly Elementary School PTO will be hosting their Annual Harvest Festival.  The Donnelly Public Library will be sponsoring the Hayride through Donnelly.  This year the Library has purchased books to give instead of candy.

October 24-31st we are celebrating BAT WEEK.  “Bats are amazing animals that are vital to the health of our environment and economy. Although we may not always see them, bats are hard at work all around the world each night- eating tons of insects, pollinating flowers, and spreading seeds that grow new plants and trees. ” We are launching our celebration off on October 22nd.  After school at 3:00 P.M. the community is invited to join us for BAT books, BAT crafts, BAT snacks, BATS, BATS and more BATS.

Halloween We still have our Purple People Eater costumes and may pull them out for Halloween. Whatever we decide to be we will be here. October 31st 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. We will have hotdogs and s’mores around the fire and would love to have parents join us.
We give the best treats to our trick or treaters. FREE BOOKS!
