May / June Director Report
COVID We are continuing to update our website regularly. Here are some of the things we have done. :
We have been updating this page regularly:
http://donnelly.lili.org/covid-19-information/
We also are going to do one blog a month in which we feature the items that would normally be on our bulletin board.
- 50 States: We wanted to allow the kids to continue their 50 state study. We are adding the states on our blog. . http://donnelly.lili.org/50-states-in-50-days/
- Middle School Book Club ZOOM http://donnelly.lili.org/middle-school-book-club/ It keeps me on my toes. I have a hard time keeping up with these kids.
- Summer Reading BRAG tags are a HUGE hit.
- Headstart / Pre-K Reading Bingo
- Increase usage on Libby (Idaho Digital Consortium) It is continuing to grow.
- Inventory (Weeding) We are weeding a high number of books. Each week at Farmers’ Market we are getting rid of at least a box or two.
- Grants Applied for Rotary/ LMCF / Stibnite / LOT
LOT split in to two different grants. We have not heard on any of them as of present.
- Wifi Filtering. We are compliant.
- Cares
Wifi HotSpots We got the hotspots. We have 2 that are working. We also got a cell phone and a new Library phone. We received a government contract from Verizon. The hotspots still depend on Verizon service to work. Most libraries that circulate them charge a deposit. We have a $10 deposit set up in the computer. Just primarily so I can see how it works. I would under new business like to address Library charges ( hotspots and book club in a bag)
- Community Service. We do have a homeless gentleman that comes to the Library regularly that I requested he help with some yard work. He was compensated with a gift card. He has been working to find a job. Trying to apply for jobs using his phone. He comes to use the wifi nearly every day. Generally polite and very well mannered.
- Yard Maintenance: My father has been doing it, and then we had this gentleman. My dad however is using his gas and weed eater supplies. In New business I would like to talk about compensation of $25/ month for the Summer months remaining (August / September)
- Membership growth during Covid. We continue to grow.
- We received a grant for a summer intern. She is working 10-12 hours a week. Primarily, Wednesdays for Farmers Market. She is managing our hour long pop-up Library in the Meadows, known as the Pumpkin Patch.
- Farmers Market: Friends opted to not do Farmers Market. We are bringing in $80-$100 each week.
- Library Baby is all grown up and as library toddler it was a huge commitment for Katy to try and juggle baby and work this summer. She is going to cover for me on a few days in which I will be gone. She also may work 1-2 dyas a week for a couple hours so I can get caught up on some administrative things.
- I will complete Sarah Roach’s employee evaluation by the end of July.
- Friends Of The Donnelly Public Library There was a bit of tension with the FOL. I am working to rectify that. I am stepping up and actively recruiting additional FOL members and trying to help. They meet again August 3rd, 2020. I have sent them written request for their budget, bylaws with amendments, and current member list as they do use our name and image to represent themselves in public. They directly impact the Library in behavior. I am committed to helping them a little better in the future.
