This week’s Camp is Little Minnows. It is just for Kindergarten and First Graders. Today, we started the morning by reading books for Kindergarten.
- Who Will Go To Kindergarten Today? by Karl Ruhmann
- Countdown to Kindergarten by Alison McGhee
- Kindergarten by Jacueline Rogers
- Kindergarten, Here I Come by D.J. Steinberg
- The Night Before Kindergarten by Natasha Wing
We worked on gross motor skills by drawing the alphabet with chalk and fine motor skills by writing names with crayons.
We practiced our math skills by using the Ocean Counters. We identified colors, sea animals and patterns all while counting. (Count to 20) Our Ocean Counters are a great K-Ready learning tool. They can be checked out and used for various counting activities as well as early math. We also played mancala and made our own mancala ‘boards’ out of construction paper. Games are a great way to make counting fun.
We read The Great Boat Race, a Stuart Little book. Miss Sherry also read Grandude’s Green Submarine by Paul McCartney.
We read Babies In The Ocean which was so fun because the story is about two little Sea Turtles named Tillie and Tyde and we have a little minnow (student) named Tillie.
Miss Abbie read The Awful Aardvarks Go To School.
