The day began with a special visit from Wyatt’s dad and three llamas!
We sang the alphabet song while Miss Sherry drew the letters on a whiteboard and everyone tried to make the letters with our bodies.
We read Llama Llama books: Llama Llama Red Pajama / Llama Llama Loves To Read / Llama Llama Time To Share
We also read Kaya: Rides to the Rescue.
The campers each received their very own copy of Kaya: Rides To The Rescue. (The books were purchased with a grant from IDHW) Kaya is a young girl from the Nez Perce Tribe. Our Nimiipuu words we learned were:
Nimiipuu (nee-MEE-poo) means the People (known today as the Nez Perce)
Eetsa (EET-sah) means mother
Toe-ta (TOH-tah) means father
Aalah (AA-lah) means grandmother (on father’s side)
The students also took some time and played with the American Girl doll, Kaya.
Snack time was string cheese and peanut butter on crackers.
We made coral reefs.
Last we read Octopus’s Garden by the great Ringo Starr.
Lunch was fish sticks, carrots, and salad supplemented by greens and a tomato from our garden. Dessert was applesauce.
The kids had so much fun with our bounce houses and are looking forward to the new playground being finished. We’re going to have a little party on Friday to celebrate!
Miss Abbie also read Blackbeard’s Treasure, What Lives In A Shell and On A Pirate Ship.
