We had a great Junior Friends of the Library meeting this past Monday. It was great to have Quincie and Amelia at the meeting and they both seem very eager to help out this summer! We have a ton of opportunities for everyone who wants to help and I wanted to quickly pass along to you what we discussed so that you’re in the loop!
Our next meeting is planned for May 6th at 5:30pm, right before the Friends of the Library meeting. The kids can stick around for the “adult meeting” or help babysit any little ones that might come to the Friends meeting in the kids room.
They all seem very eager to help this summer at the Farmer’s Markets, which we’ll discuss at the May meeting. They have talked about making crafts, helping with the craft table, kids story time, etc. They had a great idea to have a face painting booth for one of the F.M. dates and had some clever ideas about simple crafts.
We’d also love their help at the NEA Big Reads event on May 23rd at Roseberry. They were thinking of dressing up and offering a fortune telling booth by donation. I thought that was a clever idea. We will also have the community yard sale on May 29th, and we are kicking around the idea of having a Pizza Party for parents and kids alike a few days before the 29th to gather all the books from the Scheline’s house and setting things up for the sale. I’ll keep you posted on that date.
And finally, we want to try to do two fun group activities this summer… one in the Donnelly area and potentially one down in Boise. We talked about going to see the Titanic Exhibit in Boise, a swimming/camping outing, etc. Again, we’ll keep you posted on all that.
What will help make the Junior Friends a success is if you’re supportive of the ways they want to help and so I want to share with you all the great things they’ve discussed so you’re “in the loop”. Don’t hesitate to reach out our call me with any questions you may have.
Sorry for the long email but I hope it was worth the read. The kids are amazing!!
