Last year we had over 175 runners
and we expect an even bigger turn out this year, so be sure to register as soon as possible to secure your spot.
As in years past, we trot in memory of Kerri and Jürgen Hawkins, friends and supporters of the Donnelly Library!
The proceeds raised from this year’s Huck Trot will be used to help support the expansion of The Donnelly Library. We will also be purchasing books in honor of Kerri and Jürgen for both
the Donnelly Library and the McCall Library, in their names.
The number one goal at the Library is our building expansion. We have a plan. We just need to secure funding. The plan is modest and does not have a bunch of bells and whistles.
We are on our third year of offering a “camp” experience to our students. This year we operated with a grant from the Idaho Out Of School Network and were able to offer additional weeks of Camp. Camp Library served kids from 7:30 am to 6 in the evening, allowing children to have a safe and enriching learning environment for the day. We were able to add Mrs. Cyndi to our team. She teaches in the West Ada School District and we were lucky to get her for the summer. She and Miss Elise made a great team.
The McCall Summer Food Program has come to Donnelly. On Tuesdays and Thursdays Miss Elisa (not to be confused with our own Miss Elise) comes down from McCall with food. EVERYONE is welcome. She brings enough food for you to eat and have some leftovers. Come enjoy our campus and go away full. Currently, the McCall Summer Food Program is under the auspices of St. Luke’s Foundation, but they are working towards getting their own non-profit. You can donate to this program at the Library.
The Library has been in the news a lot lately. Kids at the Library have been attracting a bit of attention and so have Grandma and Grandpa Library. Grandma Library does not like to be in the spotlight, but here she is. They have been nominated for Idaho’s After School Champions. https://idahooutofschool.org/idaho-afterschool-champions/ We have such wonderful volunteers and such a strong support system.
If you have not renewed your library membership since July 1, 2024, please come in and renew your membership. Parents, it is important that you come in and sign the new Patron Agreement.
We would love to use Huckleberry Season as a time to remind you to GIVE. Consider giving to our Friends of the Library or direct to the Donnelly Library
