A free, three-part workshop series designed specifically for parents and caregivers to prepare their child for kindergarten is planned at the Donnelly Public Library on Fridays beginning February 24th. The READY! for KindergartenTM workshops feature a facilitated lesson by an educator, free quality early learning materials and resources for families, provided child care during each workshop session, a complimentary healthy snack and the opportunity to network with other local parents.
The READY! for KindergartenTM program is designed to empower and support parents and caregivers in the early years of their child’s development as they look forward to kindergarten. READY! for KindergartenTM identifies age-level learning targets, demonstrates ways to “play with a purpose”, and provides take home materials and tools such as games, toys and exercises. The schedule for the upcoming workshop series at the Donnelly Public Library is as follows:
Sessions 1-3 for ages 3-4 will begin May 5th
Sessions 1-3 for ages 4-5 will begin May 26th
The content of each three-part workshop series is tailored based on a child’s age and their expected date to enter kindergarten. The upcoming READY! For KindergartenTM workshop series in Donnelly is available for parents of and caregivers of children ages 0-1. Workshops for children ages 1-5 will be available in the coming weeks, please contact the Donnelly Public Library for details. E-learning workshop modules are available for parents and caregivers who are not able to attend all three sessions in person. READY! for KindergartenTM is a proven program developed by the Children’s Reading Foundation and is administered across the country through local partners. Like dozens of other READY! for KindergartenTM workshops across the state of Idaho, this workshop series is coordinated by the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children (IDAEYC).
