England (aka Harry Potter day)! England has so much history in literature! Besides Harry Potter, can you think of other books from England? Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, The Secret Garden, Lord of the Rings, Marry Poppins, Robin Hood, Little Women, Artemis Fowl, Hocus Pocus, The Golden Compass, AND SO MUCH MORE! And, of course, anything Jane Austen and our book that we’ve been reading, 80 Days Around the World.
Each child received a wand and glasses for our special day. We started off our adventure with color changing drinks that Medea (Miss Sherry) made for the kids. Then we had Professor McGonagall sort us into Houses! After the Sorting Hat Ceremony, Mrs. Sam (Ravenclaw) read All Around the World: England while the kids ate fish and chips followed by some delicious butterbeer. Then, we played Quidditch and the different houses had to try to get the Snitch to their designated area. The Houses did a wonderful job and each player got to take home their own golden snitch to enjoy later (see picture).
We got into pairs, one older child with a kindergartener, and read a children’s book from England! If they finished their book, they got to pick a special England sticker Miss. She-… Medea brought and put it in their passports.
