As you might have read in previous posts, we got chickens! Yesterday we built them a home, and today we get to buy everything that goes in it. We needed food, heat lamps, and things to put the food in. After the hard work of collecting all our items, we got some ice cream on our way back to the library! Once at the library, the kids had to strategically find a place to put the hen house so that the heat lamp could be plugged in, but would not be a hazard to patrons. They found the perfect spot and got everything ready to go! Welcome home Turkey, Thailand (Thai), and Madagascar (Maddy)!
We also learned about Ecuador! The students took turns reading All Around the World: Ecuador. Did you know that Ecuador is on the equator? Yup! There is even a monument to mark the spot 0°-0′-0″ Lat. There are three main sports in Ecuador: soccer, volleyball, and basketball. We played a game where the kids had to answer a question in order to make a shot at my basketball hoop. They did a great job!
After prepping the hen house and learning about Ecuador, the kids finished the planter! They added their compost, soil, and planted strawberries and marigolds! We also rearranged a little and did some cleaning so we could have an awesome place to learn outside!
