Happy Earth Day!
We had a special visit from the Tamarack Yeti to talk to us about protecting our Earth. We read Composting as we collected items for the bottom of our pots. We planted wildflowers! Composting is a great way to reduce waste and it’s super good for growing things like flowers, plants, or food! Worms are great to have in your compost, and the kids had so much fun finding and collecting them for their pots.
We also included a short lesson about Venezuela. Mrs. Sam read Exploring Countries Venezuela to the kids and then taught them a few Spanish words. Spanish is considered the country’s official language.
We are 2/3rds through our 80 Days. We have been to so many wonderful places.
Miss Sherry read Dancing Hands by Margarita Engle and loved it. “In soaring words and stunning illustrations, Margarita Engle and Rafael López tell the story of Teresa Carreño, a child prodigy who played piano for Abraham Lincoln.” I loved this story of a young girl from Venezuela.
