We started off with reading about Brazil in our book All Around the World: Brazil! Then we got to enjoy some Brazilian pineapple that Mrs. Sam made for them. Fruits, vegetables, and a variety of meats and cheese were also served along side some milk. Brazil is the first country we’ve learned about that houses a portion of the Amazon Rain Forest! When learning about Brazil, we got to learn about The Christ the Redeemer statue that stands 98 feet tall on a mountain that can be seen from anywhere in Rio. Soccer, or “futebol,” is the most popular sport played here. So, while the older kids played a soccer board game with Miss Sherry, the younger kids started their adventure in making the world a better place. Mrs. Sam read Earth Day to the younger kids and then talked about how we can save energy in our day-to-day lives. They came up with great ideas – turn off the water when not in use, cut back on screen time, recycle, don’t litter. They also learned how to walk a line in a group to look for trash around the library. After throwing away what we found, Grandma Library read them Michael Recycle!
