The weather was great for today’s lesson about Scotland! We read All Around the World: Scotland and got to partake in some Highland games like tug-of-war and shot put! While we ate our Scottish shortbread and potato chips, we listened to bagpipes playing. The kids were amazed to find out where the Loch Ness sea monster originated from. Scotland calls their lakes “lochs,” and Loch Ness is one of the biggest lakes there.
We also read The story of Scotland, which is an enjoyable and funny retelling of the finding, naming, and history of Scotland, including important people who shaped the Scotland we know today. The kids were able to spot an infamous dog named Greyfriars Bobby in The Story of Scotland because we also read Greyfriars Bobby: the most famous dog in Scotland!
