We had so much fun learning about Morocco as we read All Around the World: Morocco! We learned that birds like the stork, pelican. flamingo, and cattle egret migrate and rest in Morocco. Part of the Sahara Desert is in Morocco, and people camp in desert tents there and use camels to move about. Camels are ideal for the desert due to their wide feet which makes it easier to walk in the sand.
The kids and I had a great talk about where children eat lunch on school days. In Morocco, children go home to eat lunch with their families and then go back to school. Girls wear white smocks to school while boys wear blue smocks. Did you know that Morocco has a national drink? It’s Mint tea! Each kid got some mint tea to take home and have with their family.
We watched a video that told us 30 facts about camels (see below)! So many countries surrounding the desert love to have camel races. After we took notes on camels, we enjoyed watching people trying to ride camels (and not doing so well a job). Miss Sherry and her company rode camels!
