Dark Sky Festival Donnelly

This event was created by a young freshman at McCall Donnelly High School.  She dreamed it up while in Middle School and has planned it all herself. Elaina Gamble spent a great deal of time and energy making her dream a reality.

Celestron CPC 11-Inch StarBright XLT GPS SCT GoTo Computerized Telescope

You don’t have to be an expert in astronomy to operate the Celestron CPC 11-Inch GPS SCT GoTo Computerized Telescope. This Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is bundled with advanced features including NexStar computer control technology and StarBright XLT Coatings which enhances all your stargazing sessions. Quick and easy to setup, its simple to use and is suitable for a star viewing party or a college classroom. This Celestron Telescope is designed to enlighten your perspective from the moment you take it out of the box.

The Library is honored to have purchased one of the best telescopes on the market.   We were able to purchase this beauty with a grant from ION Idaho Out-Of-School Network – Idaho Out-of-School Network (idahooutofschool.org). (Thank-you ION for supporting the students in Donnelly)

The event was funded through ION and money from our Local Option Tax revenue here in Donnelly.

The Donnelly Dark Sky Festival

On November 5 th , 2022, the Junior Friends of the Donnelly Library will be hosting and celebrating the First Annual Donnelly Dark Sky Festival.

The festival will begin at 6pm at the historical Roseberry Barn on the corner of Roseberry Road and Farm to Market Road.

The event will include astrological presentations from the students at BSU, live music from the bluegrass band Wheelhouse, star gazing during the Taurids meteor shower, a food truck, raffle and more! The event is free to attend, family friendly and all ages are welcome.

The purpose of the Donnelly Dark Sky Festival is to promote dark sky awareness and discourage light pollution. By using downward facing lights and light timers, you can ensure that future generations have the chance to see the Milky Way in the Idaho sky. Our two raffle baskets will include many things to help you with your dark sky initiative at home as well as make the stars a delight to navigate.

Should you have any questions about the event, you can go to the Donnelly Library website or call the library directly.
